(a) & (b): The number of powerlooms set up state-wise is enclosed at Annexure-I. Due to increase in input costs, slump in demand over the last three years, there has been partial stoppage/shutdown of powerlooms which is to the extent of 30-40% of the capacity. However, the exact number of persons who were affected has not been estimated.
(c): Government has been implementing several schemes for the development and revival of the decentralized Powerloom Sector which include:- i) The In-situ upgradation scheme for upgradation of plain powerlooms; ii) Group Workshed Scheme for giving assistance for constructing workshed for powerloom sector; iii) The Integrated Scheme for Powerloom Sector Development (ISPSD) for extending support in the form of Buyer Seller Meet, Yarn Banks, setting up of Common Facility Centres, organising Seminar/ Workshop regarding Government schemes; iv) Group Insurance Scheme for social security and v) Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) for skill upgradation. The funds are allocated scheme-wise and not state-wise. The details of budget allocation and utilization under the Powerloom Sector Schemes for the last three years and current year are enclosed at Annexure-II.
(d): The details of the contribution of the powerloom sector/ Handloom sector out of total cloth production of textile sector in the country during the last three years & current period is given below:
