(a)-(b) The India-Nepal boundary is based on the Treaty of Sugauli of 1816 between British East India Company and Kingdom of Nepal and subsequent treaties and agreements. India and Nepal have established a Joint Technical Committee (JTC), with the objective of, inter alia, resolving the differences of perception on the alignment of boundary in some segments, which also includes Bhikhnathori. The last meeting of JTC was held in Kathmandu, Nepal on December 21-22, 2006. The JTC is yet to complete its mandated tasks.
