(a) whether the Government proposes to set up Manufacturing Industry Promotion Board (MIPB) to periodically review the manufacturing sector in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY (SHRIMATI NIRMALA SITHARAMAN)

(a) to (c): For matters pertaining to the implementation of the National Manufacturing Policy, Government has setup a Manufacturing Industry Promotion Board (MIPB) through its notification dated 1st June, 2012. MIPB is Chaired by the Commerce & Industry Minister with Secretaries of a number of related Ministries and representative of Industry as its members. Among other things, MIPB has been tasked to periodically review

(a) the overall situation and state-wise/sector-wise performance of the manufacturing sector;

(b) the implementation of the National Manufacturing Policy in general and the development of NIMZs, wherever approved, in particular; and

(c) to deliberate upon any other policy recommendations necessary for further rowth of the manufacturing sector.
