(a) whether the Government propose to identify those spare parts which can be manufactured indigenously by private sector to achieve self-reliance in the field of defence production;
(b) if so, by when;
(c) the steps taken in this regard; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): Indigenisation of defence equipment is an ongoing process. Indigenisation of spares of defence equipment has been undertaken in aircrafts, warships, armaments, tanks, vehicles and electronic as well as engineering equipment. The list of items/spare parts for indigenous production through the private sector is reviewed from time to time having regard to the latest requirements of the Armed Forces.
