Question : Veterinary RT-PCR Lab in Rajasthan

(a) whether, the Government proposes to set up veterinary RT-PCR lab etc. in the State of Rajasthan for testing of viscera, sample etc. of animals considering the geographical location and people’s dependency on animal husbandry in the States;

(b) if so, the time by when it is likely to set up;

(c) if not, the reasons along with the details thereof;

(d) whether the State Government has sent any proposal to the Union Government regarding setting up of any lab managed by the Centre in the State of Rajasthan; and

(e) if so, the details of the progress and the decision made on the said proposal?

(a) & (b) Animal husbandry, including setting up of disease diagnostic laboratories, is a State subject. However, Livestock Health &Disease Control (LH&DC) scheme of Central Government providesfinancial assistancewith central share (90:10 for North Eastern States & Himalayan States, 100% for Union Territories and 60:40 for all other States)towards supplementing the efforts of State/Union Territory Governments for strengthening such laboratories.

Accordingly, Central Government has released Rs.1041.24 lakh during 2020-21, which includes Rs.20.00 lakh,for strengthening of State Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (SDDC), Jaipur(Rajasthan).

(c) Question doesn’t arise.

(d) & (e)The question does not arise in view of reply at (a) and (b) above.
