Question : Naval Operation in Maldives

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to launch an immediate Naval Operation in Maldives to counter Chinese interference there and save natural diversity of the place;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time by which the operation is likely to be started and its impact on natural ecosystem; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): Government has been closely monitoring the evolving situation in Maldives and keeping a constant watch on all developments having a bearing on India’s security and shall take all necessary measures to safeguard it.
