Answer given by the minister

The Minister of State (Independent Charge)of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (Dr. Jitendra Singh)

(a) & (b): One of the mandated roles of the Ministry of Develo- pment of North Eastern Region (M/o DoNER) is monitoring of deve- lopmental schemes and projects in NER taken up under the earma- rked fund by the various sectoral ministries. As a part of the mandated role, the Ministry is closely monitoring the progress of schematic fund release to the states and utilisation, day to day status of which is available in the website of Ministry of Finance. Based on the analysis State Governments of North East are advised to review schematic performance of line departments at a higher level wherever improvement is needed. Concerned ministries are also requested to have a close review for imp- roving performance.

As regards monitoring of major infrastructure projects, such as road, rail, air, inland water transport, telecom, power etc. implemented by various ministries, M/o DoNER has been organi- sing inter-ministerial consultations to expedite implementa- tion by removing hurdles wherein state Governments of North East are involved.
