Question : PM-KISAN for Landless and Tenant Farmers

(a) whether it is true that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana does not cover landless/tenant farmers who cultivate thousands of acres of land on lease in the country;

(b) if so, the reasons for not covering such farmers under the yojana;

(c) whether the Government proposes to include tenant farmers thereunder;

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the provisions and procedures for the same and the time by which such benefit will largely begin; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme. PM-KISAN provides an income support of Rs. 6000 per year in 3 equal instalments to all farmer families who own cultivable landholding irrespective of the size of the landholding, subject to certain exclusion criteria.Ownership of a cultivable landholding remains the basic criteria to avail the benefit under the Scheme.
