(a) whether a number of Group of Ministers (GoMs) and Empowered
Group of Ministers (EGoMs) are working on various important subjects;
(b) if so, the composition along with the names of Chairmen and terms of
reference of each GoM and EGoM;
(c) the details of the subjects pending for consideration before them;
(d) the subjects on which decisions were taken during the last three years and
the current year by each GoM and EGoM; and
(e) the action taken by the Government on those decisions?

(a) Presently, 27 Groups of Ministers (GoMs) and Empowered Groups of Ministers
(EGoMs) are functioning.
(b) The composition and the terms of reference of each of the 27 GoMs/EGoMs are
indicated in the Annex. The Minister whose name figures at the top in each GoM/EGoM,
acts as the Chairperson of that GoM/EGoM.
(c) The subjects have been indicated in the Annex.
(d) 76 GoMs and 16 EGoMs have been constituted since 22.05.2009 on a diverse range of
subjects. GoMs/EGoMs other than 27 referred to in reply to part (a) above have considered
the issue(s) placed before them.
(e) Keeping in view the fact that the GoMs/EGoMs are appointed for investigating and reporting
on a diverse range of issues, appropriate action on their recommendations is taken by the Ministry/
Department concerned with the approval of the competent authority in accordance with the provisions
of the Government of India (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1961.
