Question : MOU WITH GERMANY



(a) whether the Union Government has given a final shape to a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed with Germany for teaching German language as an optional subject;

(b) if so, whether the Ministry of External Affairs has circulated the said Memorandum of Understanding;

(c) if so the details thereof; and

(d) the difference between the earlier MoU and the present one?

(a) to (d) : Yes, Madam. Our Mission in Berlin has shared the draft of the proposed MoU with the German side on 13 April, 2015. The proposed MoU inter-alia aims to impart communicative German language training to students of Kendriya Vidyalayas and to work out mechanisms for promotion of Indian languages in German educational institutions. The earlier MoU was between two institutions whereas the proposed MoU is inter governmental.
