Question : SHARE OF SSIS IN BIHAR IN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION



(a) the share of small scale industries of Bihar in total industrial production of the country;

(b) whether any financial aid is provided by the Government to these industries;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The share of registered Small Scale Industries (SSI) of Bihar in total SSI Industrial Production as on 31.03.2002 is estimated to be 3.37%.

(b) to (d): The SSI units in the country are set up by private entrepreneurs. The Government is not providing financial assistance directly to SSI units. The Government of India and State Government of Bihar are implementing a number of developmental and promotional schemes for SSI Sector. The Central schemes/programmes are not State-specific. An outlay of Rs. 2200.00 crore has been made for implementation of schemes/ programmes relating to development of SSIs in the country including Bihar. An outlay of Rs. 61.24 crore has been tentatively approved for the Tenth Plan under State Plan for Village & Small Industries sector of Bihar (including SSI sub-sector).
