Question : Web Cameras for Online Education

(a) whether the web cameras being used by the Government School Teachers of the country including West Bengal for taking online classes are not of good quality and is adversely affecting the students;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has conducted any enquiry in this regard;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the Government has determined any guidelines/funds for the teachers for imparting onlinequality education and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) Education is a concurrent subject in the constitution and majority of schools come under the purview of the state and UT governments. (e) Ministry of Education released PRAGYATA Guidelines on Digital/Online Education. The guidelines provide a roadmap or pointers for carrying forward enhanced quality online education. It is useful for a diverse set of stakeholders including school heads, teachers, parents, teacher educators and students. The guidelines can be accessed at:

During the COVID pandemic situation, NCERT continued NISHTHA online - integrated teacher training using DIKSHA platform and conducted three levels of NISHTHA training at the elementary, secondary and foundational level.NISHTHA has a Module on Integration of ICT in Teaching-Learning and Assessment. It covers identification of appropriate learning resources suitable to the nature of content and teaching-learning strategies, various eContent, tools, software, hardware for teaching, learning and assessment for different subjects and design and implementing a teaching-learning plan based on ICT-Content-Pedagogy integration.

Special capacity building of teachers on conduct of online classes has been undertaken by CIET-NCERT. This is for the enrichment and professional development of students, teachers, teacher educators and researchers.
