Question : INFILTRATION OF BANGLADESHI NATIONALS



(a) whether the Delhi High Court issued orders in September, 2005 to form Monitoring Cell in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya on the lines of Delhi Government to curb the infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government has taken any steps regarding formation of such cells in the bordering States of India; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The Hon`ble Delhi High Court issued orders in September, 2005 to form Monitoring Cell in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya on the lines of Monitoring Cell already set up by Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi to monitor the progress of detection/deportation of illegally staying Bangladeshi nationals.

(c) & (d): The Union Government issued necessary directions to all the above five State Governments to constitute the Monitoring Cells as directed by the High Court of Delhi, which has been done.
