Question : Inclusion of Six Communities in ST List

(a) whether Union Government is aware that Assam State Government had constituted a committee of ministers few years back to give Schedule Tribe status to six communities including Koch-Rajbongshi, Adivasi and Ahom;

(b) if so, the details of the composition of the committee;

(c) the number of meetings of the committee that were held;

(d) the details of the minutes of meeting in the floor of the house;

(e) whether Union Government has taken any decision on the basis of the recommendation of the Assam Government?

(a): As per information received from the Government of Assam, a committee of Ministers was constituted by the then State Government of Assam on 14.01.2019.

(b): Composition of the committee is at Annexure –I.

(c): 11 meetings were held.

(d): Minutes of the meeting are at Annexure –II.

(e): No proposal based on the recommendations of the Committee have been received.
