(a) and (b) Flood Management being the State subject,
investigations, planning and implementation of flood
management scheme are within the purview of the State
Government. Flood control schemes are planned by State
Governments depending upon their priorities subject to
availability of funds under the State sector.
However, Central Government also provides funds
for execution of flood management schemes. The list of such
ongoing Centrally Sponsored Schemes under execution and to
be completed during 10th Five Year Plan is given at Annexure-
1.
(c) and (d) No information has been received which
indicates that state Governments are indifferent towards
flood control.
(e) The implementation of the scheme is also monitored
by the concerned Central agencies from time to time.
