Question : GAUGE CONVERSION OF AJMER-CHITTAURGARH-UDAIPUR RAIL LINE



(a) whether the Government have decided for conversion of Ajmer-Chittaurgarh-Udaipur meter/gauge rail line into broad gauge;

(b) if so, the progress made in this regard so far;

(c) the funds allocated during each of the last three years and the current year along with the expenditure incurred thereon so far;

(d) the time by which the conversion work is likely to be completed;

(e) whether the Government have also decided to connect Pushkar with Ajmer by constructing new rail line; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

Statement referred to in reply to parts (a) to (f) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.4696 by Prof. Rasa Singh Rawat to be answered in Lok Sabha on 24.8.2000 regarding Gauge Conversion of Ajmer-Chittaurgarh-Udaipur Rail Line

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): This work has been taken up in phases. Earthwork and construction of bridges is in progress on first phase work between Chittaurgarh and Udaipur. Work on 2nd phase between Ajmer and Chittaurgarh will be taken up in the coming years.

(c): The position regarding amount allocated and spent in the last three years and the current year is as under:-

(d): No target date has yet been fixed.

(e)&(f): Yes, Sir. Construction of new rail line from Ajmer to Pushkar has been included in the Budget 2000-01. Final location survey has been taken up. This will be followed by land acquisition and work would be taken up once the land becomes available.
