Question : REGULARIZATION OF SERVICES OF PART-TIME WORKERS



(a) whether a decision has been taken regarding regularization of the services of part time sweepers/enpioyees working in the different public sector banks to full time sweepers/employees;

(b) if so, whether all the public sector banks have implemented the decision; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a),(b) & (c) : A meeting with the representatives of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations, National Federation of State Bank of India SC/ST Employees, All India Bank Employees` Federation and All India Grameena Bank SCs/STs Employees` Welfare Association, held under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary(Infra/SCT) on 12th April, 2006 in Banking Division, New Delhi to discuss Issues relating to reservations for SCs/STs/OBCs in public sector banks.

It was inter-aiia pointed out by the representatives of Confederation/Federation that SC/ST employees were engaged by Banks on part-time meagre wages amounting to Rs.2000-3000 p.m., whereas regular employees of the Banks are getting handsome salary. Some of the part-time employees had been engaged 10-12 years ago and till date they are continuing as part-time, having bleak future. It was suggested that instructions may be issued to the Bnks to regularize the services of SC/ST part-time employees and to make appointments only on regular basis in the future,, The representatives of the Confederation/Federaticn were informed that the above suggestion would be forwarded to the Banks for consideration and appropriate action. The minutes of the meeting have been circulated to all the Public Sector Banks/FIs.
