Question : New Division at Rourkela

(a) whether the Railways consider extending Jurisdiction of East Coast Railway (ECoR) to include Jharsuguda - Barsuan - Kiriburu (SER), Rourkela - Nuagaon (SER) and Jharsuguda - Himgiri (SECR) sections under new division at Rourkela;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Railways consider extending jurisdiction of ECoR to include Banspani - Padapahar, Rupsa - Bangriposi and Bhadrak - Laxmannath Road under new Division with headquarters at Jajpur; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d): At present, there is no proposal under consideration for formation of new divisions at Rourkela and Jajpur.

Divisions on Indian Railways are set up keeping in view factors like size, workload, traffic pattern and other administrative / operational requirements, consistent with the needs of economy and efficiency, without any regional considerations.
