Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES (DR. VALLABHBHAI KATHIRIA)

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) to (d): Cement Corporation of India (CCI) is under reference to Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) and has been declared sick. In pursuance to BIFR`s directions given on 28.7.2000, Government has considered the feasibility of CCI`s revival and conveyed its stand to BIFR that the feasibility of outright sale of all units of the company, individually or collectively, may be considered. The revival scheme prepared by the two experts is more or less similar to the plan already considered by the Government. BIFR is considering various options regarding the future of the company. BIFR is a quasi judicial body.
