Question : LPG CONNECTIONS IN BIHAR

(a) whether the Union Government have approved a special scheme in July, 1999 regarding issuing of new LPG connections in lieu of kerosene quota through State Civil Supply Corporation till extension counters are opened and regular distributors are appointed in rural areas falling within 15 kms radius of normal commercial area of present distributors working in urban areas ;

(b) if so, the total number of connections issued/being issued under this scheme in Bihar, especially in Saharasa, Saupol and Madhepura; and (

(c) if not, the reasons therefor ?

(a) to (c) : Government have approved a special scheme in July, 1999 for release of additional LPG connections to the various States against surrender of kerosene quota. However, the benefit under this scheme has not been availed by Bihar Government so far.
