Question : MPLADS



(a) whether the Government are contemplating to allow MPs to purchase informative and valuable books for the libraries of their respective constituencies under the Members of Parliament Local Areas Development Scheme;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the steps being taken by the Government in the cases where the Members of Parliament have already purchased books for the library of their respective constituencies out of the said fund alongwith details thereof?

(a)&(b) The Guidelines on MPLADS do not permit purchase of inventory items like books.

(c) Whenever any such case is brought to the notice of the Government, the concerned District Collector is advised to reimburse the amount to MPLADS fund.
