Question : Compensation for Land across Indo-Pak Border

(a) the amount of compensation per acre given to farmers whose land lies across the barbed fence on Indo-Pak border in Tarn Taran district of Punjab and the year upto which compensation has been given to farmer;

(b) whether the Government intends to increase the amount of compensation; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) An amount of Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand) only per acre per annum, has been fixed as basic compensation, besides, agricultural price inflation index is also being applied to decide the actual compensation over and above basic compensation of Rs. 10,000/- on year to year basis in terms of order of Hon’ble High Court of Punjab & Haryana. The amount of compensation is being shared equally by the Government of India and the State Government of Punjab. Government of India has deposited its share upto the year 2017 with the Govt. of Punjab for further distribution.
