Question : FUNDS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF COASTAL AREAS



(a) the quantum of funds allotted to the States from the Coastal Area Development Fund, during each of the last three years, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government of West Bengal has sought fund assistance from the CADF; and

(c) if so, the reasons for not according approval to the demands?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI HUKUMDEO NARAYAN YADAV):

(a) to (c) No Coastal Area Development Fund as such for the benefit of fishermen has been setup by the Government. However, financial assistance is extended to the States under various schemes for development of fisheries and welfare of fishermen. On receipt of proposals from the Government of West Bengal, Central assistance of Rs.2109 lakh has been sanctioned to the State under various schemes during the period 2000-01 to 2002-03 for the development of fisheries and welfare of fishermen.
