Question : PENALTIES ON TELECOM COMPANIES

(a) the total revenue earned by the Government from various telecom companies under various heads/charges during the last three years and the current year, head-wise;ddx

(b) the total amount outstanding including spectrum charges, licence fee and interest against the telecom operators which have not paid the amount, operator-wise;

(c) whether the Government has proposed to penalise the defaulting operators which have not paid the amount and issued notices to them;

(d) if so, the details of notices issued and penalties imposed on defaulting telecom operators, operator-wise; and

(e) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to recover its dues from the telecom operators?

(a) The total revenue earned by the Government from various telecom companies under various heads/ charges during the last three years and the current year, head –wise; is given at Annexure “I & II”.

(b) The total amount outstanding including spectrum charges, license fee and interest against the telecom operators which have not paid the amount, operator- wise; is given at Annexure- “III & IV”

(c) Yes Madam.

(d) Details of demand notices issued and penalties imposed on defaulting telecom operators are given at Annexure “IV”

(e) Following action has been taken by the Government to recover its dues from the telecom operator:-

# Issue of show causes Notices.

# Encashment of Bank Guarantees.

# Contesting stay orders before Hon’ble Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal, Hon’ble High courts and Hon’ble Supreme Court of India defending the court cases against the demands issued by department.
