(a) the number of units of Khadi and Village Industries Commission being closed as on October 31, 2000;
(b) if so, the number of closed units;
(c) whether the Government have constituted any High Power Committee or Commission to find out the reasons for such closures;
(d) if so, the details of findings of the Commission and the time by which its report is likely to come; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) does not run any unit of its own. The Government through the KVIC provides assistance for the Khadi and Village Industries Sectors. Information in respect of closure of Khadi and Village Industries units in the private sector is not maintained centrally.
