Question : Drinking Water Schemes in Uttar Pradesh

(a) whether various schemes are operational for providing drinking water to the people across the country particularly in Uttar Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the ongoing projects particularly in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh along with the funds allocated for the same?

(a) & (b) Drinking water is a State Subject. Government of India supplements the efforts of States by providing financial and technical assistance to States/ UTs including Uttar Pradesh. To enable every rural household in all States/ UTs to have Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) for providing potable water at service level of 55 litre per capita per day (lpcd) by 2024, Government of India has launched Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).The planned outlay of JJM in five years is ?3.60 lakh Crore, out of which Central Share is about ?2.08 lakh Crore.
(c) As reported by the State Government, under JJM in Hathras district, there are three ongoing drinking water supply projects. Under JJM, Government of India does not allocate fund individual project-wise. In 2019-20, an amount of ?1,390.37 Crore has been allocated to Uttar Pradesh.
