Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS
(SHRI VIJAY GOEL)

(a) to (c) Sports is a State subject and, therefore, it is primarily the responsibility of the State Government to create adequate sports infrastructure including international cricket stadium. The Central Government complements/supplements the efforts of the State Governments. Therefore, the Ministry does not maintain any record of International Cricket Stadiums in the country.
The Government is implementing the “Khelo India – National Programme for development of Sports” Scheme from the current financial year 2016-17. The Scheme inter-alia provides for Construction of Stadia
complex at District Headquarters with a cost ceiling of Rs.50 crores. Stadia Complex will be funded subject to availability of adequate funds and after taking into account the various facilities available in a State.
So far, no project for construction of Stadium has been sanctioned by this Ministry under the “Khelo India” Scheme.
