ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND
FAMILY WELFARE
(SHRI FAGGAN SINGH KULASTE)
(a) & (b): Last tender for supply of Unani medicines on rate contract was valid till 31-12-2014. Now, the new tender document for supply of these medicines has been finalised after obtaining the necessary approvals.

(c): Following steps have been taken to ensure regular supply/availability of Unani medicines:

I. Unani Medical Store Depot has been computerized and online indents are being received with effect from February, 2016.

II. Steps have been initiated to start online submission of indents for local purchase.

III. Unani Medicines, which are not available at the Wellness Centre in Delhi & NCR or medicines which are outside the formulary, are procured through Authorized Local Chemists. Provision has been made to impose penalty in case of delay in supply of indented medicines by Authorized Local Chemists (ALCs).

IV. In other cities, no Authorized Local Chemists are appointed and in case the medicines are not available at the Wellness Centre, Additional Director (AD) of the concerned city procures them locally.

V. Beneficiaries are also permitted to purchase the non-available medicines from open market and claim reimbursement.
