Question : Border Management

(a) whether the Government proposes to install CCTV cameras on the entire Indo- Pak border in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the progress made in this regard;

(c) whether the Government is likely to introduce modern anti-infiltration mechanisms in the borders to check terrorist infiltration such as smart fences, vibration detection systems and mini-drones and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government intends to constitute fresh norms for effective border management and control in the wake of recent incidents of cross border acts of terrorism and if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFFERED TO IN REPLY TO THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.*326 FOR 09.08.2016.


(a) to (c): Government of India has decided to deploy technological solutions on a pilot basis in the form of Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS)in various difficult terrains on Indo-Pakistan border. Amongst others, this inter alia includes Electro-Optic Sensors (high resolution cameras), Radars and other devices.

(d): Norms for border management and deployment of forces and technology are considered at appropriate times. It would not be in interest of national security to disclose the details.
