(b) if so, whether any survey has been conducted in this regard; (

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the time by which the survey is likely to be conducted?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI DIGVIJAY SINGH)

(a): No, Sir.

(b) & (c): A survey for construction of new line from Dimpaur to Chumekedima was conducted in 1986. The survey report revealed that the cost of the 13 kms. long line would be Rs.6.29 crs with negative rate of return. In view of the grossly unremunerative nature of the line and acute constraint of resources, it has not been found possible to consider the project for the present.

(d) & (e): Do not arise.
