STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. †*54 ANSWERED ON 22.07.2021 REGARDING “NATIONAL LEVEL SPORTS STADIUMS” ASKED BY SHRI KANAKMAL KATARA AND SHRIMATI KESHARI DEVI PATEL, HON’BLE MEMBERS OF LOK SABHA
(a) and (b) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of creating sports infrastructure including national level sports stadiums rests with the State / Union Territory Governments. Central Government supplements their efforts by bridging the critical gaps in sports infrastructure. No proposals have been received in this Ministry to construct sports stadiums in Banswara and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan or Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh.
(c) Funds are allocated by the Union Government Scheme-wise, not State/Union Territory or District-wise. However, funds released for development of sports in Rajasthan under Khelo India Scheme during the last five years are as under: -

(d) Sports Authority of India (SAI) releases funds to its Regional Centres instead of States/Districts. Funds allocated/released to the SAI Regional Centre, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) are as under:

Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium, Prayagraj for Lawn Tennis Discipline has been notified as Khelo India Centre (KIC) and ? 7 lakhs have been released.
