MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT, FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI PRAKASH JAVADEKAR)
(a) Yes Sir, ‘Environmental Education, Awareness and Training (EEAT)’ is a flagship scheme of the Ministry with the objective of mobilizing people’s participation for preservation and conservation of environment and to spread environment education, especially in the non-formal system among different sections of the society. Under this scheme one of the major flagship programme is National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) initiated in year 1986 with the objective to create environmental awareness among the wide group of stakeholders at the national level. The programme for year 2012-2013 had the theme “ Biodiversity Conservation” with 21 subthemes. 13676 organisations across 34 States/Union Territories participated in the programme in year 2012-2013.
(b) Funds sanctioned to States/union territories during last three years is annexed. The announcement for the programme for current year has been made in public domain for soliciting the proposal through Regional Resource Agencies.
(c) & (d) Yes Sir, the participating organisations since 1986 have increased from 115 to 14000 which reflects the growing significance of this programme.
