Question : Infrastructural Facilities to Players

(a) whether the Government is contemplating on providing infrastructural facilities to players on State level;

(b) if so, the details in this regard relating to Maharashtra State; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) and (b) ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the responsibility of providing infrastructural facilities to players at State level rests primarily with the respective State Governments. The Union Government supplements their efforts. Under the “Utilisation and creation/upgradation of sports infrastructure” component of the Khelo India Scheme, this Ministry has so far sanctioned 289 sports infrastructure projects of various categories across the country on the basis of project proposals received from the State/UT Governments and other eligible entities under the Scheme. Out of these 289 projects, 12 sports infrastructure projects amounting to ? 103.80 crore have been sanctioned in the State of Maharashtra.
