Question : WORKING WOMEN POPULATION

(a) whether the Government has any data regarding the working female population at present; and

(b) if so, the details thereof and the approximate number of women employed sector-wise in the country?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) As per the information received from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, 50.16 lakh women were employed in the organized sector as on 31.3.2005, an increase of 1.7% over the previous year. Of these, 29.21 lakh women were employed in the public sector and 20.95 lakh in the private sector.
