(a) the present status of Kovvada Atomic Power project in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) whether consultations with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy have been completed;
(c) if so, the details and the outcome thereof; and
(d) the expected date of production of atomic energy from this plant?

(a) At present pre-project activities viz. land acquisition and associated rehabilitation and resettlement, obtaining statutory clearances, site investigations to obtain data for design inputs are in progress. Discussions with technology partner, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy to arrive at project proposals are also in progress.
(b) No, Sir. The discussions are in progress.
(c) Does not arise.
(d) While the exact date of production would depend on the date of commencement of work on the project after conclusion of agreements and project sanction, generation of electricity from the first set of units is likely after about 7 years from actual start of construction reckoned with the First Pour of Concrete (FPC).
