(a) whether the Pakistan has been preventing our various agencies contractors to set up fencing along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir;
(b) if so, whether the Government propose to entrust this job to Para Military Forces; and
(c) if so, the time by which the fencing along the international border in Jammu & Kashmir is likely to be completed?

(a) to (c): The work of construction of fencing on Jammu International border was suspended in July, 1995 due to unprovoked and persistent firing from Pakistan. Government have recently decided to adopt multi-modal approach for creating an obstacle system on the International border in Jammu Sector to check infiltration and smuggling of weapons/explosives etc. This project will be executed by BSF and is expected to be completed in about 1-1/2 to years time.
