Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STEEL (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN)

(a)&(b): Land for setting up of Bokaro Steel Plant was acquired by the State Government through notifications under Part II of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

Directorate of Employment & Training (Employment Wing) of the then State Government of Bihar compiled the number of families displaced at the time of setting up of the Bokaro Steel Plant to be 6019. In principle, it was agreed to provide employment to at least one member of the displaced family initially. Bokaro Steel Plant has so far provided employment to more than 16000 displaced persons, which is much more than the number of families originally displaced.

Employment to Displaced Persons at Bokaro Steel Plant is regulated in terms of the Hon’ble Supreme Court Judgment & the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Government of India Guidelines in this regard.

(c) Does not arise in view of (a) and (b) above
