THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION
(SHRI SHARAD YADAV)
(a) and (b): Yes, Sir. The present strength of Aircraft
Maintenance Engineers having licence on DO 228 aircraft is
not adequate. There are no qualified Engineers on this
aircraft in the market also. It is for this reason that the
retired AMEs having basic qualification and willing to
obtain endorsement on Dornier aircraft have been
re-employed.
(c): The Dornier aircraft in the fleet of Indian Airlines
are maintained in accordance with the procedure prescribed
by the Manufacturer and approved by the Director General of
Civil Aviation. These aircraft are certified for operation
by the qualified Aircraft Maintenanc Engineers holding valid
licence issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation on
this aircraft type.
