Question : REVIEW OF FOOD FOR WORK SCHEME



(a) whether Planning Commission has recently reviewed the working of “Food for work” scheme:

(b) if so, the outcome thereof;

(c) the deficiencies noticed in the implementation of the scheme, State-wise; and

(d) the remedial steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government for the effective implementation of the scheme?

(a) to d) : National Food For Work Programme (NFFWP) was launched in November, 2004 as a prelude to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005. The Programme was fully subsumed in MGNREGA with effect from 2.2.2006, which is being monitored and reviewed by the Planning Commission on regular basis.
