Question : Wind Energy Projects

(a) whether the Government is planning/proposing to set up grid-connected 1,000 MW wind energy projects in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;
(c) the details of the funds likely to be sanctioned for these projects along with the target fixed in this regard;
(d) the time by which these projects are likely to be set up; and
(e) whether the Government is planning to do it under PPP model, if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR POWER, COAL, NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY & MINES (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) (SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL)

(a) to (e) : Yes Madam. Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanctioned a Scheme for setting up of 1000 MW Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) connected Wind Power Projects on 14 June 2016. The Scheme to be implemented by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Under the Scheme wind projects will be selected through open and transparent competitive bidding process followed by e-reverse auction. Projects can be installed at any wind potential sites of States. Bidders can avail fiscal and financial incentives already available to wind power projects, and no additional Central Financial Assistance will be provided under the Scheme. The projects are to be completed within 18 months from issue of Letter of Award, However, maximum period of 27 months allowed for completion of projects with penalties.
