Question : CONSTRUCTION OF HOSTELS CLOSE TO IGIA



(a) whether certain private companies have been allowed to construct hotels and private commercial area close to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA);

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the names of these companies;

(c) whether these private companies have been allotted land which was acquired for construction/development of the IGI airport and other projects of public nature;

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor; and

(e) whether the land has been allotted for these projects keeping in view the security aspect of the IGI Airport and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. M/s Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL) has awarded Licenses to 13 Developers, to develop and operate hotels and commercial space in the Aerocity at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport namely, Juniper Hotels Private Limited, Caddie Hotels Private Limited, Silver Resort India Private Limited, Aria Hotels & Consultancy Services Private Limited, Pride Hotels Limited, Central Park Infrastructure Development Private Limited, Hyacinth Hotels Private Limited, Oak Infrastructure Developers Limited, Aspen Buildtech Limited, Intern Globe Hotels Private Limited, Bird Airport Hotel Private Limited, Wave Hospitality Private Limited and DB Hotels (India) Private Limited.

(c) & (d): Airports Authority of India has leased out the IGI Airport Land to M/s DIAL for Operation, Management and Development of the airport by entering into Operation, Management and Development Agreement (OMDA) with DIAL. The OMDA provides that upto 5% of the total demised land can be used for commercial purposes. Accordingly, DIAL has licensed 45.08 acres of land for the development of Hotels and Commercial activities.

(e): Necessary action has been taken by M/s DIAL to ensure security of these project. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India (BCAS) has issued guidelines for the safety and security of the airport to be complied with by the respective developer at the Hospitality District before commencement of operations.
