(a) the details of the proposals received from various States
to bestow the status of central university on their
Universities;
(b) the number of those proposals under consideration since
last three years;
(c) whether any such proposal has come from the State of
Rajasthan;
(d) whether Rajasthan University, Jaipur was proposed for the
Central University status; and
(e) if so, the steps taken by the Government to consider the proposal?

(a) to (e): The Central Government receives, from time to
time, proposals from various quarters for the conversion of
State Universities in almost all the States, into Central
Universities. Similar proposal has been received in respect of
the Rajasthan University at Jaipur from the State Government
of Rajasthan. Since the present policy is to consolidate
facilities in the existing State Universities, the said
proposal from Rajasthan has not been agreed to.
