the steps being taken or proposed to be taken by the Government to manage the present situation of huge wait-listed for those passengers desire to go long distance places with fixed quota system particularly to Guwahati, Dimapur, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh from Delhi/New Delhi?

Following steps have been taken to cater to the unsatisfied demand from Delhi/New Delhi to Guwahati/Dimapur/Tinsukia/Dibrugarh: -


(i) A new Bi-weekly train i.e. 2501/2502 New Delhi-Guwahati Sampark Kranti Express has been introduced in March 2005.


(ii) Frequency of New Delhi - Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express train, which was earlier running thrice a week, has been increased to Daily.


(iii) One extra AC-3 tier coach has been attached in 2424/2436, New Delhi - Guwahati-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express train w.e.f. 25/07/2005.


(iv) One extra second-class coach has been attached in 4055/4056 Delhi - Dibrugarh Town Bramputra Mail on regular basis w.e.f.10/07/2005.


(v) Additional coaches were attached to clear the extra rush.
