(a) the State-wise number of branches of commercial banks at present;
(b) whether RBI has given permission to some commercial banks to open their new branches;
(c) if so, the State-wise details of each bank; and
(d) the State-wise new branches opened by these banks during the last three years?

(a) and (d) The State-wise number of branches of commercial banks functioning as on 31.3.2001
and also the number of branches opened by these banks during 1.4.1998 to 31.3.2001 are given
in the enclosed statement-I.
(b) and (c) State-wise and bank-wise details of authorizations issued by RBI for opening
of branches are given in the enclosed statement-II.
