Question : Merger of Associate Banks with SBI

(a) the total number of branches closed in accordance with the merger of four associate banks with State Bank of India (SBI);

(b) the details of closed branches in the country State/UT-wise including Kerala in line with the above; and

(c) the number of managerial and other posts reduced due to the closure of the said branches?

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance


(a): State Bank of India (SBI) has informed that 1,267 branches have been merged in the process of rationalisation following the merger of five Associate Banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank Limited with SBI.

(b): Details are in Annex.

(c): SBI has informed that there has not been any reduction in posts as a result of branch mergers.
