(a) & (b): For promoting health and safety, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has launched Annual Preventive Health Check up of all Insured Persons (IPs) of age 40 years and above in ESIC/ESI Scheme (ESIS) hospitals/equipped dispensaries.
The health check-up, besides routine General Physical/Clinical Examination, includes following investigations:
1. Haemoglobin (Hb), Total Leucocyte Count (TLC), Differential Leucocyte Count (DLC), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
2. Random Blood Sugar
3. Kidney Function Test-Blood Urea, Serum Creatinine

4. Liver Function Test- Bilirubin, Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase (SGOT), Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT), Serum Alkaline Phosphatase.
5. Urine-Routine and Microscopy
6. X-ray chest- PA (posteroanterior) view
7. Electrocardiogram (ECG)
(c) to (e): A news article on discrepancy in purchase of medicines for State Government run ESIS hospitals in Telangana was reported to ESIC Hqrs office.
Since the matter pertains to State Government of Telangana, Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Govt. of Telangana has been asked to send a factual report in this regard.
Similarly, for Andhra Pradesh, representations have been received from Trade Union regarding irregularities in ESI hospital, Andhra Pradesh for which State Govt. has been requested to send report to Hqrs. Office.
Further, from time to time, ESIC issues guidelines to all State Governments for procurement of medicines through Director General, ESIC Rate Contract/State Rate Contract in compliance with prescribed Financial Rules.
