(a) whether the Public Works Department (PWD) of Assam has sought any assistance from the Union Government for renovation of roads;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of roads for which proposals have been received; and
(c) the details of the funds sanctioned for the said purpose?

(a) The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) in the Country. The development and maintenance of NHs is a continuous process and is taken up on the basis of inter-se priority, traffic volume and availability of funds. The State Government of Assam has not sought any assistance from the Union Government for the renovation of other category of roads under its jurisdiction.
