Question : FOOD POISONING



(a) whether cases of food poisoning in Delhi are on the increase;

(b) the number of cases of food poisoning during the last one year in Delhi;

(c) the action taken against the defaulters in each case; and

(d) the precautionary measures initiated to guard against spread of this evil?

(a) No, Sir.

(b)to (d) The Department of PFA, Government of Delhi is regularly lifting samples of different food items under the supervision of Sub Divisional Magistrates who have been given the powers of LHA under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 from all the nine districts of State of Delhi. These samples are analysed in the Food Laboratory of PFA by a notified Public Analyst. All the samples lifted during the last one year have been analysed and in none of the samples has any poisonous material been detected.
