Question : Anti-poaching Camps

(a) the total number of anti-poaching camps (APC) available in various wildlife protection sanctuaries along with the number of foot soldiers employed in various camps in the country;
(b) whether such camps are having proper infrastructure and weapons for the safety of its employees;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the employees in anti poaching camps are permanent employees or are employed on contract basis; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government to absorb contractual employees in permanent cadre like other Government employees?

(a) As per the information received from the States/UTs, the details of total number of Anti-Poaching Camps (APC) along with the number of foot soldiers employed in the camps is at Annexure.

(b) and (c) As per information received from the States/UTs, the infrastructure available in these camps varies from temporary to permanent structures. In some States/Union Territories, anti-poaching camps are also provided with weapons.

(d) and (e) As per the information received from the States/UTs, both permanent and contractual employees are engaged by the State/UTs in anti-poaching camps.Rules/policies regarding appointment to permanent cadre vary from State to State.
