(a) whether Punjab Wakf Board is having surplus funds with it;
(b) if so, facts thereof;
(c) the steps being taken for utilizing the surplus funds for the developmental works
at large scale;
(d) the steps taken to streamline the working of Wakf Boards and root out corruption
from there; and
(e) the progress made so far in computerization of Punjab Wakf Board?

(a)&(b) Yes Sir. The surplus funds generated by streamlining the management and
curtailing expenditure has been kept as deposits in commercial Banks and
Financial Institutions.
(c) A number of Development Projects are in the pipe line.
(d) In order to streamline the working of Wakf Boards and root out corruption, the
Punjab Wakf Board has initiated a number of steps like surprise checking of
field staff and vigorous monitoring of departmental Inquiries initiated against
officials of the Board.
(e) Punjab Wakf Board sent a comprehensive proposal to the Ministry. This
proposal was examined in the Ministry in consultation with the National
Informatics Centre (NIC). Observations made by the NIC have been
communicated to PWB. The PWB is accordingly taking further action to
collect relevant information and submit revised proposal to this Ministry.
